Changes in the prices of UK visas will come into effect on 1 April 2007. This is a standard change that is being implemented world-wide. Fees for all UK visa categories are the same throughout the world.
For 96% of applicants in China there will only be a very small or no increase in the overall cost of a UK visa. This reflects the importance of our visitors and students from China.
The new fees will maintain the UK’s competitiveness as a destination for travel, study, trade, migration and investment.
In addition to the UK visa fee, which is set in pounds sterling, applicants pay a service charge at one of our 12 Visa Application Centres around China of RMB 220.
The past fees paid by applicants in China are:
Direct Air Transit Visas RMB 480 plus RMB 220 Total RMB 700
Standard six month visit visa and ADS visitors RMB 800 plus RMB 220 Total RMB 1020
Student visa RMB 1360 plus RMB 220 Total RMB 1580
Long term visa RMB 1360 plus RMB 220 Total RMB 1580
Settlement visa RMB 4160 plus RMB 220 Total RMB 4380
From 1 April 2007 the service charge for the Visa Application Centre will be removed and included in the Visa Fee. The new fees will therefore be:
Direct Air Transit Visas RMB 704 an increase of RMB 4 affecting 0.32% of all applicants
Standard six month visit visa and ADS visitors RMB 1008 a decrease of RMB 12 affecting 79.4% of all applicants
Student visa RMB 1584 an increase of RMB 4 affecting 16.3% of all applicants
Long term visa RMB 3200 an increase of RMB 1620 affecting 3% of all applicants
Settlement visa RMB 8000 an increase of RMB 3620 affecting 0.98% of all applicants
